History
of China silk |

 About 5000 or 6000 years ago, in the middle of the Neolithic Age, China had silkworm breeding, silks and satins. In Shang period, silk took its initial shape and had higher technological level. Complicated looms and weaving techniques appeared. Up to the Warring States Period, silk was prevailed in China and had more varieties, mainly consists plain silk, damask and brocade. Silk textile got a rapid development in Qin Dynasty and Han Dynasty. Chinese silk trade and export was at the height of splendor. The flourishing silk trade greatly boosted the integration of China domestic economy and culture with neighbors. The famous " Silk Road " was created during the time, which starts from the ancient Chang'an, by way of Gansu province, Sinkiang to the west, through Middle Asia and West Asia to the destination of Europe. Tang Dynasty is the boom of the silk in output, quality and variety. The silk production and trade had made great contribution for the prosperity of the dynasty. uring Song Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty, there appeared Song brocade, silk and silk textile decorated with gold. Up to Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, silk production and trade became commercialized. Tsatlee silk(from Huzhou Nanxu) was awarded gold prize in the first world exposition in 1894 and was admired by European noble. Tsatlee from Huzhou plays an important role in the world exposition which will be held in Shanghai in 2008. Since the establishment of the People's Republic of China, China silk industry has stride into a brand new period. From 1980 to 1990, the output of raw silk has risen to 57,000T from 36,000T, up 1.58 times. The silk industry has become the main industry of earning foreign exchange by export. . Since establishment in 1912, Huzhou Hufeng Silk Industry Co.,Ltd.(original Hufeng Silk Factory) has made great contributions in silk industry. Products are penetrated into the oversea market at the beginning of company's establishment. It enjoys a high international reputation, which creates excellent opportunities and wider space for tsatlee's going international. Since the establishment of the People's Republic of China,especially in the 1980s, habotai, batavia silk, Sang Bo satin etc. have become sample products in the same kinds of products in our country.
